I grew up holding a grudge towards my absent father. This is the one scene aside from the jawless girl that, in my opinion, was scarier and better made than the Japanese original.

I'm a fan of The Grudge(2004) it's actually the scariest movie I've seen.I think Kayako Saeki is the best spirit/ghost in horror movies,she's slow yet you can't escape her,you don't really know how she kills her victims and she's like a virus who keeps moving on without being able to stop unfortunately the case is different,jumpscares are overused but in the 2004 version the scariest scenes for me didn't involve any 's such a shame to see that it's fallen into this horror movie trend today of overusing Raimi also changed the story and made it into more of a zombie type but i guess every zombie makes the weird noise that Kayako makes even though it was explained in the 2004 that Sam Raimi also got rid of Toshio and added another creepy girl with long very talented cast which is why I'm so disappointed though the policewoman needs to learn how to hold a gun.I wouldn't recommend this if you're a fan of the older movies,better to just rewatch them.

The film is full of disturbing flashbacks and useless forced characters that make it messy, annoying, and boring at some points. The jump-scares are so predictable and clichéd and not scary at all. Performances are average. Cinematography however is good with some nice frames. All in all, The Grudge is a typically commercial remake that you'd probably forget the moment the credits star rolling, a big disappointment. I feel sad that the first movie I see from 2020 is disappointedly bad. Make yourself a favor and skip this one.
